Connect Your Phone to PC for Gaming — Wireless Controller Over WiFi
Connect your Android or iPhone to your Windows PC as a wireless game controller in under 3 seconds using a QR code. Gamepad — Play Anywhere handles everything — no IP addresses, no Bluetooth pairing, no drivers to hunt down.
How the QR Code Connection Works
The Gamepad Server on your PC generates a QR code that encodes the PC's local IP address and the connection port. When you scan it with the Gamepad phone app, the app extracts this information and establishes a WebSocket connection directly to the server.
This means you never need to type an IP address, configure port forwarding, or deal with network settings. As long as both devices are on the same WiFi network, the QR scan is all it takes. If your IP changes (DHCP lease renewal), simply rescan the QR code — it regenerates automatically.
QR Scan
Point phone camera at PC screen — connects automatically.
Auto-Reconnect
If WiFi drops, the app reconnects automatically when the network returns.
Local Only
Connection is local WiFi only — no data leaves your home network.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
If the phone cannot connect after scanning: confirm both devices are on the same WiFi network (not one on 2.4GHz and one on 5GHz if your router segregates them). Check that Windows Firewall allows the Gamepad Server — the installer should add this rule automatically, but you can verify in Windows Security → Firewall → Allow an App.
If the QR code does not scan: increase the brightness of your PC monitor, ensure the phone camera is focused, and try scanning from 30–60cm away. The app also lets you enter the IP address manually if the camera cannot read the QR code.
