Windows 11 Controller App — Use Your Phone as a Gamepad
Gamepad — Play Anywhere is fully compatible with Windows 11. The server installer includes the ViGEmBus driver signed for Windows 11, creating a virtual Xbox 360 controller that every game and app on your PC can use.
Windows 11 Driver Signing and Security
Windows 11 enforces driver signature verification more strictly than earlier versions. ViGEmBus — the virtual controller driver bundled with Gamepad Server — is fully signed and passes Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) verification. You will not need to disable Secure Boot, put Windows into test-signing mode, or bypass any security checks.
The Gamepad Server installer runs with standard user permissions for the software itself; ViGEmBus installation requires administrator approval (one UAC prompt) which is normal for any kernel driver. After that, the server itself runs without elevated privileges.
WHQL Signed
ViGEmBus is signed — no Secure Boot bypass or test-signing mode needed.
Normal Privileges
After driver install, the server runs without admin rights.
No Antivirus Issues
Signed driver and open-source code — no false positive flags.
Xbox Game Bar and Windows 11 Gaming Features
The virtual Xbox 360 controller created by Gamepad integrates with Windows 11's Xbox Game Bar (Win + G). Controller input is recognised by the Game Bar for auto-recording, overlay triggers, and Xbox achievement capture.
Windows 11 Game Mode also recognises the controller session and can prioritise resources for your game accordingly. The experience is identical to using a physical Xbox Series X|S controller connected via Bluetooth.
