Android Phone as a Controller for Fighting Games on PC
Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken, Guilty Gear, and Dragon Ball FighterZ all support Xbox controllers. Use your Android phone with Gamepad — Play Anywhere for free wireless fighting game control.
Controller Layout for Fighting Games
The Gamepad app's Standard layout places the D-pad on the left (for motion inputs: quarter circles, Z-motions, charge inputs) and the face buttons on the right (for punch/kick variations or attack strengths). L1/L2/R1/R2 buttons are available for macro or assist inputs.
Fighting games are very sensitive to input lag. On 5GHz WiFi, the Gamepad app achieves under 10ms latency — well within the acceptable range for casual and intermediate fighting game play. Competitive players who care about single-frame inputs may prefer a wired physical controller, but for most players the phone performs excellently.
Motion Inputs
D-pad for quarter circles, Z-motions, and charge inputs — all fighting game specials.
Face Buttons
Light/medium/heavy punches and kicks on A/B/X/Y — customisable layout.
All Games
MK1, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Guilty Gear Strive, DBFZ — all XInput supported.
2-Player Local Versus
Fighting games are the original local 2-player genre. With the Gamepad app, Player 1 and Player 2 each use their own phone as a controller. Both phones connect to the same Gamepad Server and appear as Controller 1 and Controller 2. Open any fighting game's local versus mode and both players are ready.
This works for all PC fighting games that support 2-controller XInput: Mortal Kombat series, Tekken series, Street Fighter series, Guilty Gear Strive, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Skullgirls, Fantasy Strike, and more.
