Play GTA V on PC Using Your Android Phone as a Controller
GTA V supports Xbox 360 controllers natively. Use Gamepad — Play Anywhere to turn your Android phone into a virtual Xbox 360 controller and drive, shoot and explore Los Santos wirelessly — at no cost.
GTA V Controller Support — How It Works
GTA V on PC has full Xbox 360 controller support built in. The moment a virtual Xbox 360 controller appears in Windows (created by the Gamepad Server via ViGEmBus), GTA V detects it and switches to controller prompts. No configuration is needed inside the game.
All GTA V controls map correctly: left stick (move), right stick (camera), A (jump/confirm), B (cover), X (reload/interact), Y (enter vehicle), LT (aim), RT (fire), LB/RB (weapon switch), D-pad (radio/weapons), Start (pause). Driving, on-foot combat, and flying all work with the phone as a controller.
Full Driving Control
Analog triggers for throttle/brake, sticks for steering — identical to a real controller.
Combat Ready
Aim with LT, fire with RT, cover with B — full on-foot and vehicle combat.
Fly Missions
Flying works perfectly with both stick axes for pitch/roll/yaw control.
Works with Steam and Epic Games Versions
The virtual Xbox 360 controller created by Gamepad works with both the Steam version and the Epic Games Store version of GTA V. It also works with the Rockstar Games Launcher standalone version. Because the controller appears at the Windows system level, the game launcher does not matter.
Online play (GTA Online) also works — you can use your phone as a controller in multiplayer sessions.
