Play Fortnite on PC with Your Android Phone as a Controller
No physical gamepad for Fortnite? Use your Android phone instead. Gamepad — Play Anywhere creates a virtual Xbox 360 controller that Fortnite detects automatically — with full button support and gyroscope aim assist for precise shooting.
Does a Phone Controller Work Well in Fortnite?
Yes — Fortnite on PC has full Xbox controller support via XInput. When Gamepad connects your Android phone, Fortnite recognises it as an Xbox 360 controller and switches to controller UI automatically. All building, shooting, weapon switching and inventory controls work exactly as they do on a physical controller.
The gyroscope feature in Gamepad gives you a meaningful advantage: tilt your phone slightly to fine-tune your aim, much like gyro aiming on the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or PS5 DualSense. This combines stick aiming speed with gyro precision.
Auto-Detected
Fortnite switches to controller mode the moment your phone connects — no settings to change.
Gyro Aim
Tilt your phone to fine-tune shots — precision not available on most physical controllers.
Full Button Map
All Fortnite controller functions: build, edit, shoot, sprint, crouch — fully mapped.
Setup for Fortnite — 3 Steps
Step 1: Download the Gamepad APK on your Android phone (link on our Download page). Step 2: Download and install the Gamepad Server for Windows — it installs the ViGEmBus driver automatically. Step 3: Open the Server, scan the QR code with the phone app. Your phone is now a controller.
Launch Fortnite. The game will show a controller icon in the top right corner confirming detection. Go to Settings → Controller to adjust sensitivity and button layout to your preference.
