Use Your Phone as a PC Controller Without Bluetooth
No Bluetooth adapter on your PC? No problem. Gamepad — Play Anywhere connects exclusively via WiFi — no Bluetooth required on either the phone or the PC. Just a shared WiFi network and you are ready to play.
Why WiFi Instead of Bluetooth?
Many desktop PCs and older laptops lack built-in Bluetooth. Adding Bluetooth requires a USB dongle — an extra purchase, an extra USB port used, and potential driver or pairing issues. WiFi, on the other hand, is nearly universal — home routers and WiFi networks are present in virtually every gaming environment.
WiFi also has latency and range advantages over Bluetooth for gaming. At 5GHz, WiFi achieves under 10ms latency — better than Bluetooth 4.x (which runs at 10–30ms depending on the polling mode).
No Bluetooth Adapter
Save the USB port — no dongle needed for WiFi-based controller connection.
Better Latency
WiFi at 5GHz outperforms Bluetooth in both latency and reliability.
Home Network Range
Control from anywhere in your home — WiFi range far exceeds Bluetooth.
Desktop PCs and WiFi
Desktop PCs with no WiFi adapter can use an Ethernet connection to the same router/switch instead of wireless. The phone connects over WiFi to the same router. As long as both are on the same local network segment, the Gamepad connection works over wired-PC + wireless-phone configurations.
This is actually the ideal performance configuration: the PC has the low-latency wired connection while the phone uses WiFi. Combined round-trip latency is typically under 8ms on a modern home network.
